Afghan Red Crescent Details Extensive Humanitarian Aid Efforts

The Afghan Red Crescent Society (ARCS) has provided an annual briefing in Kabul, outlining its comprehensive humanitarian efforts across the country, Khaama Press reported. The organization reported that more than 30,000 Afghans are affected by congenital heart defects, with 14,000 having received treatment, including 2,002 children referred to hospitals.

In addition to medical care, the Red Crescent offered mental health services to 2,383 individuals through six psychotherapy centers, leading to the recovery of nearly 300 patients. Financial aid, vocational training, and subsistence support were extended to over 36,000 vulnerable people across eight centers.

Overall, the ARCS delivered health services to a staggering 3.8 million people nationwide. Its disaster relief operations reached 511,000 victims, including the resettlement of 288 earthquake-affected families in Herat Province into new homes valued at over 102 million Afghanis. In total, the Red Crescent’s diverse programs, encompassing healthcare, clean water provision, food distribution, and housing support, have provided aid to more than 4.6 million Afghans.
