Multiple casualties reported as train derails in southern Germany

Several people have been killed and injured after a train derailed in southern Germany, Anadolu Agency reported quoting the German Press Agency (dpa) based on security sources. The regional train went off the tracks near the town of Riedlingen at 18:10 local time (2010 GMT) on Sunday.
Rescue teams are actively working at the scene, with video footage showing firefighters and emergency personnel trying to reach passengers inside the derailed carriages, one of which appears to have overturned. Loud screams can be heard in the background. Fallen trees were also reported at the site, following a recent storm in the area.
The control center in Reutlingen described the situation as a “mass casualty incident,” indicating that many people require urgent medical care. Preliminary reports from the Federal Police estimate that around 100 passengers were on board the train. The cause of the derailment has not yet been determined.
