Vietnam Bus Crash Kills 10, Days After Fatal Boat Incident
………………..
Ten people, including two children, were killed early Friday when a sleeper bus overturned in central Vietnam, according to a government statement. The vehicle was traveling from Hanoi to Da Nang on a national highway when it veered off the road, struck roadside markers, and flipped over.
All the victims were Vietnamese, with five identified as domestic tourists en route to Da Nang for vacation. An additional 12 passengers were injured and transported to hospital for treatment.
Survivors reported that those seated in the front bunks suffered the most severe impact. One passenger told local media that they were unable to move as the force of the crash pinned them against the bed frame.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has ordered an investigation into the incident. The tragedy follows a deadly boat accident in Ha Long Bay last week, which left 38 people dead and one still missing. Only 10 survived that maritime disaster.
