At Least 85 Palestinians Killed Seeking Aid in Gaza Amid Evacuations
…………………
Gaza’s population of over 2 million faces a severe humanitarian crisis, heavily dependent on limited aid deliveries. On Sunday, at least 85 Palestinians were killed while attempting to reach food supplies, marking the deadliest day for aid-seekers in more than 21 months of conflict, according to local health officials.
The deaths occurred as the Israeli military issued evacuation orders for parts of central Gaza—a region rarely accessed by Israeli forces and home to many international aid organizations. Some aid groups were reportedly ordered to evacuate immediately.
Northern Gaza experienced the highest casualties, with at least 70 Palestinians killed near the Zikim crossing while trying to access aid trucks, Health Ministry stated. The UN World Food Programme had sent 25 aid trucks to assist starving communities when large crowds gathered.
Eyewitnesses described being trapped amid gunfire and tank encirclement during the aid distribution, with several injured and fatalities reported. The Israeli military acknowledged shooting at a large crowd it considered threatening but disputed casualty figures provided by Gaza officials, accusing Hamas militants of causing disorder.
