The Ahlulbayt Association in Glasgow, Scotland, held a three-night commemorative program marking the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Ali ibn al-Hussain al-Sajjad (peace be upon him). The event drew members of the Arab, Iranian, and broader Muslim communities from various national backgrounds.

The first night featured a lecture by Sayyid Muhammad al-Hakim, who delved into the ethical and philosophical themes of Imam al-Sajjad’s Treatise on Rights, highlighting its relevance to personal and societal development. On the second night, Sheikh Abdul-Hassan Masoud presented a lecture on the Imam’s life and legacy, followed by an interactive Q&A session with the audience.

The final evening opened with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an, followed by a poetic performance by Sayyid al-Hakim, who recited the renowned elegy “This is he whose footprints the sands of Batha know.” Sheikh Masoud then delivered a detailed lecture exploring the Imam’s spiritual and intellectual leadership through Al-Sahifa Al-Sajjadiyya and his pivotal role following the tragedy of Karbala, including his suffering in Kufa and Damascus and his protection of the women and children of the Prophet’s household.

The program saw strong female participation in a dedicated space, and elegies by reciter Muhammad al-Kanani evoked deep emotion, expressing the Imam’s grief and injustice while reinforcing a spirit of devotion among attendees.
The commemorations concluded with congregational prayers led by Sheikh Masoud, followed by a communal dinner that fostered a sense of unity and connection within the Glasgow Muslim community.
