Explosion at Pharmaceutical Factory in Southern India Kills 12

An explosion followed by a fire at a pharmaceutical factory in Telangana, southern India, on Monday resulted in the deaths of at least 12 people and left many others injured, Anadolu Agency reported. The incident occurred at a Sigachi Industries facility located in the Sangareddy district of the state. Firefighters responded promptly to control the blaze.
The fire caused a portion of the building to collapse, trapping several workers beneath the rubble. Damodara Raja Narasimha, a state minister, confirmed the fatalities and stated that 34 individuals are currently receiving medical treatment.
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy expressed concern over the accident and instructed authorities to intensify rescue operations and provide urgent medical care to those affected. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his sorrow over the tragedy on X, offering condolences to the families of the deceased and wishing a speedy recovery for the injured. He also announced compensation for the victims’ families and those injured.
State Labor Minister G. Vivek Venkataswamy visited the hospitalized victims and assured their families of the government’s full support. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the explosion and fire.
