Colorado Muslim community rejects violence after Boulder incident

The Muslim community in Colorado has strongly condemned the recent attack in Boulder, which involved Molotov cocktails thrown at an event held by elderly participants in support of Israeli detainees.

In an official statement, the Islamic Center of Boulder described the act as “cowardly” and unrelated to the teachings of Islam, reaffirming that Islam promotes compassion and respect for all people, regardless of background or political stance.

Civil rights attorney Azraa Taslimi emphasized that the suspect, identified as Muhammad Suleiman, does not represent American Muslims or their commitment to democracy and civil liberties. “Freedom of speech and peaceful assembly are principles we uphold. Our message as Muslims in America is one of coexistence, not violence,” she said.

Islamic organizations across the state issued a joint statement expressing sympathy with the victims and urging the public to distinguish between individual acts and the values of the wider Muslim community.
