Pakistan Imposes Strict Curfew in North Waziristan Amid Rising Violence
————————————–
The Pakistani military imposed a strict curfew across North Waziristan on Tuesday, severely restricting civilian movement in the volatile region near the Afghan border, Amu TV reported. The curfew includes a complete ban on travel within and between towns, with reports indicating that even medical emergencies are being denied passage through military checkpoints.

Local residents and activists described the situation as dire, with patients stranded and hospitals inaccessible. Markets remain closed, and people are confined to their homes just days before Eid al-Adha. “The military is not allowing anyone to move, not even those with critical medical needs,” said a resident fearing reprisal.

Meanwhile, the military announced today that fourteen terrorists belonging to Fitna-al-Khawarij were killed in an operation by security forces in North Waziristan district’s Datta Khel in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Youth activists condemned the curfew as collective punishment, blaming security forces for failing to control the recent surge in militant attacks targeting Pakistani forces. North Waziristan, part of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, has long been a hotspot for insurgency and counterterrorism operations. The military has yet to comment publicly on the curfew, though it has acknowledged increasing security threats in the area.
