Saudi Arabia to Deploy AI-Enhanced Firefighting Drone “Falcon” During Hajj for First Time

For the first time, Saudi Civil Defense will deploy the AI-powered firefighting and rescue drone “Falcon” during this year’s Hajj, Arab News reported. Designed for high-altitude and hard-to-reach locations, the drone can fly up to 12 hours carrying a 40-kilogram payload.

Equipped with a multi-purpose firefighting system, thermal cameras, and live video streaming linked to command centers, Falcon enhances rapid response and safety in crowded areas, industrial sites, high-rise buildings, and forest fires. Its use aims to reduce risks to personnel and improve emergency decision-making.

Major General Hamoud bin Suleiman Al-Faraj highlighted ongoing preventive measures, including safety patrols and joint emergency exercises to ensure coordinated responses during Hajj.

Additionally, Public Security Director Lieutenant General Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Bassami reported strict enforcement actions: over 269,000 unauthorized non-residents were blocked from entering Makkah, 252 fake Hajj campaigns were dismantled, and more than 1,200 violators of transport regulations were arrested.

According to The Independent, there exist fines of up to $5,000 and other punitive measures, like deportation, for anyone performing the Hajj without a permit. The policy includes citizens and those with Saudi residency.
