World’s Longest Handwritten Quran Presented to Imam Hussein Holy Shrine

The world’s longest handwritten Quran has been presented to Custodianship of Imam Hussein Holy Shrine in Karbala, Iraq, Iqna reported. During a ceremony in Karbala, Bahrain’s Al-Muharraq Intellectual and Cultural Center gifted the Quran to Sheikh Abdul Mahdi al-Karbalayi, the shrine’s custodian.
This unique copy measures 1,250 meters in length and is written on a paper scroll wound around two reels, one on each side. It is recognized as the longest handwritten Quran created using this format and size.

The Al-Muharraq Center hopes the Quran will be officially recorded in the Guinness World Records, highlighting the significance and sanctity of the Quran worldwide. The center describes the project as a response to hostile attacks against the word of God and as a meaningful effort to seek divine blessings and serve Islam.
The Quran was completed on April 25, 2022 (23rd of Ramadan 1443 A.H.) during the coronavirus pandemic.
