First Relief Convoy Reaches Kurram District After Delays

A convoy of 40 vehicles carrying essential supplies has successfully reached Kurram district after being stranded in Thall for five days, Dawn Newspaper reported. The convoy, which included 10 trucks for the Bagan area, was dispatched following negotiations with local protesters that led to the removal of roadblocks.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government spokesperson Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif confirmed that additional convoys would be sent to assist the affected population.

The region has faced violence from ongoing land disputes, resulting in over 130 fatalities since November, and significant food and medicine shortages. A peace agreement was signed on January 1, but road access remained restricted until recently. Chief Secretary Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry emphasized the importance of public cooperation in maintaining peace and stability, pledging ongoing relief efforts. The district administration is focused on ensuring safe transportation of aid and long-term development for the community.
