Majestic Procession of Mourning Held for Fatimiyah in Najaf, Karbala, and Other Cities in Iraq
The mourning ceremonies commemorating the martyrdom of Lady Fatimah al-Zahra (peace be upon her) were held in Najaf al-Ashraf, Karbala, and other cities across Iraq, drawing diverse crowds of people and Shiite religious authorities.
This year, as in previous years, a massive gathering of mourners made a solemn pilgrimage on foot to the sacred shrine of Amir al-Mu’minin (peace be upon him), where they engaged in mourning rituals.
Fatimiyah marks the period when the Shiites around the world engage in mourning to commemorate the sorrowful martyrdom of Sayyida Fatima, peace be upon her.
During the processions held in this regard, prominent tribal leaders, officials, and representatives of various mourning groups were in attendance. The Fatimiyah Procession is part of an annual tradition in which participants make their way toward the shrine of Amir al-Mu’minin, peace be upon him.
The grand and unified procession this year, held to uphold the glory of Fatimiyah, took place under the auspices of Grand Ayatollah Sheikh Bashir Najafi, a prominent Shiite authority in Najaf, marking the second Fatimiyah observance, 75 days after the martyrdom of the Holy Prophet as per a narration.
Similar events have been held for many years in Qom, featuring the participation of Shiite authorities such as Grand Ayatollah Wahid Khorasani and the late Grand Ayatollah Mirza Javad Tabrizi during the third Fatimiyah observance, 95 days after the martyrdom of the Holy Prophet as per another narration.
In addition to Najaf, significant mourning processions were also organized in the holy city of Karbala and Souq al-Shuyukh in remembrance of the martyrdom of the Mistress of the Women of the World.
Currently, the holy shrines of Imam al-Hussain and Abul-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon them both) are witnessing mourning ceremonies for Lady Fatimah al-Zahra, attended by crowds and various mourning groups.
Moreover, the holy shrines of the Imams in Kadhimayn and Samarra, along with the shrines of other noble descendants of the Imams in different cities of Iraq, are also hosting mourning ceremonies in honor of the Pure Lady, Fatimah al-Zahra (peace be upon her).
