Rep of Karbala Health Department Visits Imam Hussein Media Group Headquarters
As the annual Holy Arbaeen pilgrimage unfolds, the Karbala Health Department has implemented comprehensive measures to ensure the health and safety of millions of pilgrims. Dr. Anwar Hamid al-Khafaji, the department’s spokesperson and representative, revealed these plans during an interview on Imam Hussein Persian Television.
To accommodate the massive influx of pilgrims, the department has deployed 800 ambulances equipped with emergency medical supplies throughout the city, al-Khafaji said. Additionally, he noted, several hospitals, both public and private, have been designated to provide medical services. Over 130 clinics, strategically located along the pilgrimage routes, will offer round-the-clock healthcare.
Dr. al-Khafaji emphasized the importance of preventive measures, especially given the hot weather conditions. Pilgrims have been advised to avoid outdoor activities during peak sun hours and to stay hydrated. The department has also implemented strict food safety regulations, with regular inspections of food stalls and water sources.
The health department has launched a dedicated website, “Million-Pilgrim Visitations,” offering detailed guidelines for pilgrims, including tips on maintaining personal hygiene, recognizing heatstroke symptoms, and seeking medical attention when necessary.
“Our goal is to provide the best possible healthcare services to all pilgrims,” said Dr. al-Khafaji. “By working closely with other health organizations and government agencies, we are confident that we can ensure a safe and healthy pilgrimage for everyone.”
