Iraq: Preparations Underway for Arbaeen 2024 Pilgrimage

Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani announced key decisions regarding the preparations for the upcoming Arbaeen Pilgrimage during the fourth session of the Supreme Coordination Authority, the Iraqi News Agency (INA) reported yesterday.

According to the source, al-Sudani urged local governments to intensify efforts in readying for the significant event and instructed border-crossing governorates to fulfill their responsibilities fully.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the permanent committee for the million-person visitor has been actively meeting since last year’s ceremonies, establishing priorities for the Holy Arbaeen pilgrimage.

A special conference is scheduled for next week to discuss these preparations further. Additionally, he commended the holy Karbala governorate and its supporters for their dedication during the Muharram season, highlighting the collaborative efforts essential for a successful Arbaeen 2024.
