India: Stagnant Rainwater Claims Lives, Monsoon Rains Cause Landslide Burying School Bus
Heavy monsoon rains continued to wreak havoc across India on Saturday. In Delhi, the capital city, stagnant rainwater caused by a poor drainage system led to the deaths of three people, including two young boys. The deaths come after days of heavy rain that left many areas waterlogged, submerging vehicles and disrupting daily life.
Meanwhile, in the northeastern state of Arunachal Pradesh, a landslide triggered by the monsoon rains miraculously spared the lives of all onboard a school bus. The bus, carrying students and teachers, was buried by the collapsing hillside on a mountain road. Thankfully, all the children were able to escape the vehicle, with only the driver and two staff members sustaining minor injuries.
The incident highlights the dangers posed by heavy monsoon rains, which have caused multiple landslides across the region. The India Meteorological Department has forecast continued heavy rainfall for Delhi and surrounding areas over the next few days, raising concerns about further flooding and potential dangers.
