12th of Shawwal marks demise anniversary of Sheikh Baha’i
Sheikh Baha’i is a sage, jurist, mystic, astrologer, mathematician, poet, writer, historian and famous scientist of the 10th and 11th centuries of Hijra.
In recognition of his services to the science of astronomy, UNESCO in 2009, coinciding the year of astronomy, registered his name in the list of distinguished Iranians.
In addition to the scientific works and writings, many civil works of Sheikh Bahai have survived, including the Monar Jonban, Shaykh Bahai hammam, the division of Zayandeh Rud of Isfahan, the design and architecture of the city of Najaf Abad, and the fence of the city of Najaf al-Ashraf.
He passed away on the 12th day of Shawwal, 1030 AH at the age of 77 in Isfahan and was buried in holy Mashhad according to his will.
