5.5-magnitude earthquake strikes Solomon Islands

An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.5 shook Solomon Islands at 15:59 GMT on Friday, Xinhua reported citing the GFZ German Research Center for Geosciences.

The epicenter, with a depth of 10.0 km, was initially determined to be at 10.27 degrees south latitude and 161.07 degrees east longitude.

There have been no initial reports of damage or casualties as a result of the earthquake.
