UN chief expresses disappointment as many Muslims in Gaza, Sudan not able to celebrate Eid

UN Secretary-General expressed his sadness on Tuesday that many Muslims in Gaza, Sudan, and other places will not be able to properly celebrate the Eid al-Fitr holiday due to conflict and hunger, Anadolu Agency reported.

“Every year, I express my best wishes for Eid al-Fitr to the Muslim community around the world,” Guterres said in his Eid message on X, adding his “heart is broken” due to the circumstances these Muslims are suffering.

Antonio Guterres expressed grief over the ongoing clashes in Sudan between the army and the paramilitary forces, as well as the devastating impact of the conflict in Gaza, where infrastructure has been destroyed and residents are at risk of disease and famine.
