Libya would risk sliding into ‘Disintegration’ without elections, UN envoy says

UN special envoy for Libya warned that if feuding political actors do not form a unified government and move toward elections, the country will slide into “disintegration.”

Abdoulaye Bathily urged all political leaders to put aside their self-interests and negotiate to restore the dignity of their motherland.

He also called on the Security Council and the international community to press Libyan parties to engage constructively and push for presidential and legislative elections.
