Grand Ayatullah Shirazi: Teaching and learning religious knowledge is sufficiency obligation
The daily scholarly meeting of Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Sadiq al-Hosseini al-Shirazi was held on Tuesday, the 4th of Rajab. In this session, like the previous meetings, the Marja answered the questions of the attendees about various jurisprudence issues.
Grand Ayatollah Shirazi said that learning the obligations and prohibitions, and how to act in relation to them, whether they are Shari’a rulings, beliefs, or ethics, as well as the history of Ahl al-Bayt, peace be upon them, and an extent of philosophy covering “the prerequisites of existence” for understanding Ahkam, or for the guidance of others, is a sufficiency obligation for all, and as long as there are not enough knowledgeable people in this field, it is an individual obligation.
In relation to studying and teaching religious knowledge, his Eminance also said: this responsibility is a sufficiency obligation, and if there are not enough knowledgeable and proficient people in this field for teaching and training, it becomes an individual obligation.
Emphasizing that there are often not as many people as needed in this field, the supreme Marja said: It is necessary for the people of knowledge to teach the beliefs, rulings and morals, as well as to make all efforts to study and learn the beliefs, Ahkam and morals. I pray for those who have set out in this path and undertaken this responsibility and ask from the Almighty God to help them in this path.
