Turkey’s Implant-Free ACL Technique Gains Global Recognition

A new, implant-free surgical technique for anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction, developed by Turkish surgeons, is gaining international attention, Anadolu Agency reported. The Kocabey Press Fit method is being lauded for its ability to offer patients a significantly faster recovery with fewer complications than traditional methods.

Developed by Dr. Yavuz Kocabey, the technique does not use implants, which reduces the risk of bleeding and swelling and allows patients to recover with minimal pain. Patients can bend their knee up to 90 degrees just one day after the operation.

The method has been published in international medical literature and is attracting a growing number of foreign doctors who are traveling to Turkey to observe the procedure firsthand. According to Dr. Cemil Erturk, a colleague of Kocabey, the technique was designed to combine the advantages of existing methods while overcoming their limitations. The doctors’ goal is for the method to become widespread worldwide.
