A rare and exquisite handwritten Quran dating back to 1090 AD is on display at a public library in Kütahya, Türkiye, Daily Sabah reported yesterday.
Experts state this gazelle leather-bound manuscript with beautiful calligraphy is one of the most valuable artistic treasures of the Islamic world.
The Zeytinoğlu Library houses over 2,540 rare handwritten works in Arabic, Persian and Ottoman Turkish, but this 11th century Quran with a Persian translation is the library’s most precious piece, according to the article.
According to Süleyman Kızıltoprak, president of Kütahya Dumlupınar University, the Quran demonstrates the Turks’ scientific, cultural and artistic achievements.
