Turkey detains 48 individuals with suspected links to Islamic State, minister says

Turkish Police have detained 48 people suspected of having ties to Islamic State in connection with a shooting at an Istanbul church in January, Reuters reported today.

Two Islamic State gunmen killed one Turkish citizen at the Italian Santa Maria Catholic Church in Istanbul in January.

From June 2023 to the end of March 2024, Turkey carried out 1,316 counterterrorism operations against ISIS, according to Turkey’s Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya.
