Driven by increasing outbound travel from Muslim-majority countries such as India, Malaysia, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, Hanoi is rapidly positioning itself as a premier hub for Halal tourism, Travelandtourworld.com reported.

With the global Halal tourism market projected to exceed $300 billion by 2026, the Vietnamese capital is investing in Muslim-friendly services, Halal-certified amenities, and culturally respectful experiences to attract this growing segment.

In 2024, about 650,000 travelers from Muslim-majority nations visited Hanoi, accounting for 15% of the city’s total foreign tourist arrivals. The city is enhancing infrastructure and services, including the Al-Noor Mosque in Hoan Kiem District and female-friendly initiatives, to meet the needs of Muslim visitors.

Major hotels like Meliá Hanoi and InterContinental Hanoi Landmark72 now offer Halal-certified accommodations and dining options, while restaurants such as D’Lions and Khazaana serve certified Halal cuisine. These efforts reflect Hanoi’s commitment to inclusivity and cultural sensitivity.

Vietnam’s Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh supports a national strategy to develop Halal tourism, with Hanoi leading the charge through policy support and private sector innovation. Authorities are drafting targeted policies, including financial incentives and workforce training, to solidify Hanoi’s status as a global Halal tourism leader.
