Sudan paramilitary shelling claims six lives in key city: medic

The Friday shelling of El-Obeid by Sudanese paramilitary forces has resulted in the deaths of six people, including a child, and wounded eight others, Arab News reported.
This attack follows a week of relentless bombardment by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which have been in conflict with the army since April 2023. Over the past week, residents have faced heavy shelling as the RSF attempts to regain lost territory.
The army had recently broken a nearly two-year siege on El-Obeid, a crucial link between Khartoum and Darfur. The conflict, initially a power struggle, has led to widespread displacement and a severe humanitarian crisis in Sudan, claiming tens of thousands of lives and threatening famine for millions.
