At Least 124 Killed in RSF Attack on Sudanese Village

Sudan’s paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have reportedly killed at least 124 people in a raid on Al-Sireha village in El Gezira State, marking one of the deadliest incidents in the ongoing 18-month conflict, Arab News reported yesterday.

Pro-democracy activists claim the attack, which also left around 100 injured, is part of a series of retaliatory strikes following the surrender of RSF officer Abuagla Keikal to the army.

The RSF has been accused of extensive violence in the region, including looting and displacing thousands. The conflict, which erupted in April 2023, has displaced over 11 million people and led to severe humanitarian crises across Sudan. The RSF has faced accusations of war crimes and ethnic cleansing, while the army has also been criticized for failing to protect civilians. The situation remains dire, with calls for safe passages to treat the injured amidst ongoing violence.
