Escalating Violence in Sudan Poses Grave Threat to Civilians, Health Workers

A recent report by Doctors Without Borders (MSF) highlights the dire humanitarian crisis in Sudan, where civilians face rampant violence and health facilities are under constant attack, Al Jazeera reported yesterday.

The report reveals that both the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) are committing severe atrocities, including torture and sexual violence.

Over 10 million people have been displaced since the conflict erupted in April 2023, with many at risk of starvation.

MSF has documented an average of 26 injuries treated daily at one hospital, primarily from explosions and gunfire. Additionally, a survey of sexual violence survivors revealed alarming statistics, with 90% of cases involving armed perpetrators.

The report underscores the challenges faced by humanitarian organizations, which are often obstructed from delivering aid, exacerbating the suffering of vulnerable populations in the region.
