Sudan’s army takes back control of TV, radio headquarters from RSF after intense combat
Sudan’s military regained control of the national radio and television headquarters from a rival paramilitary group after a year-long battle, the Associated Press reported.
The conflict, which began in April last year, stemmed from tensions between the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces and the military commander.
The military announced the takeover on Tuesday, sharing footage of soldiers inside the headquarters, the news agency confirmed.
The fighting has caused widespread destruction in Khartoum and other urban areas, as well as brutal attacks in Darfur, leading to grounds for the International Criminal Court prosecutor to believe that both sides committed war crimes in the area.
The conflict has resulted in over 10 million people being displaced from their homes, and millions plunging into severe poverty.
