Over 7,000 Israeli Settler Incursions at Al-Aqsa Mosque in May 2026

According to the office of the Governor of Jerusalem, more than 7,000 Israeli settlers entered the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound during May 2026, highlighting a surge in settler activity at one of Islam’s most sacred sites.

Reports from Addostour cited by IQNA, describe these incursions as part of systematic actions by Israeli authorities and settlers, including repeated raids on Al-Aqsa, home demolitions, and the issuance of dozens of demolition orders in nearby neighborhoods. The measures are said to aim at restricting Palestinian residents and altering the site’s historical and legal status.

The month also saw arbitrary arrests, forced expulsions, and residency restrictions imposed on Palestinians around Al-Aqsa. Meanwhile, the approval process for new settlement projects continued, contributing to the ongoing demographic and territorial changes in Jerusalem.

Several Palestinians were killed during the month, including Ayman Rafiq Muhammad al-Hashlamoun (May 11) near Qalandia refugee camp, Zakaria Ali Muhammad Qadis (May 12) while attempting to cross the separation wall for work, and Imad Haroun Ishtiyeh (May 31) near the separation wall.

In total, 7,244 settlers entered Al-Aqsa, with an additional 2,690 entries under the guise of tourism, all under heightened military protection.
