Nearest Mosques and Hussainiyas to 2026 World Cup Stadiums Introduced for Muslim and Shia Fans

As the 2026 FIFA World Cup approaches in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, many Muslim fans, particularly Shia supporters, are seeking information about the nearest mosques and Hussainiyas around the tournament stadiums.

The initiative aims to help fans perform prayers and observe religious practices while attending the world’s largest football event.

The 2026 World Cup is scheduled to take place from June 11 to July 19 across 16 host cities in North America. Beyond its sporting significance, the tournament is expected to draw millions of spectators from different countries, highlighting the importance of religious facilities such as mosques and Islamic centres.

According to Islamic centres and local data cited in international media reports, active mosques are located within relatively short distances of stadiums in most host cities.

In some areas, local Islamic centres and Hussainiyas also serve the religious needs of Shia and other Muslim fans, offering congregational prayers and cultural programs.

In the United States, which will host the largest number of matches, cities such as Los Angeles, New York, Atlanta, and Houston have well-known mosques near major stadiums. Some of these cities also have active Shia Islamic centres and Hussainiyas that may serve as places of worship and gathering during the tournament.

In Canada, Toronto and Vancouver, both home to sizable Muslim communities, also have established mosques and Islamic centres located relatively close to stadiums.

In Mexico, however, the number of Islamic centres is more limited, meaning fans may need to plan more carefully due to greater distances between stadiums and mosques.

Reports from North American Islamic centres and international media recommend that Muslim fans use public transport where possible and check Friday prayer schedules in advance. They also note that in some cities, access to local Hussainiyas and Shia cultural centres will help meet the religious needs of part of the audience.
