International Condemnation Mounts After Mosque Burned in West Bank
——————————————-
A mosque fire in the northern West Bank on Thursday, allegedly set by Israeli settlers, triggered widespread international condemnation amid a sharp rise in settler violence across the occupied Palestinian territory, IQNA reported.
Swiss authorities voiced “deep concern” over the attack on the mosque in Deir Istiya, calling for an end to violence and the expansion of illegal settlements. The Swiss Foreign Ministry urged Israel to uphold international law and protect the viability of a two-state solution.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres also condemned the arson, with spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric stating that the attack by settlers in the occupied West Bank was “strongly” denounced by the UN.
Germany issued a similar statement, describing the incident as part of a troubling rise in extremist settler violence. Berlin called for full investigations and accountability for perpetrators.
Qatar separately condemned settler incursions into the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound and an attack on another mosque in Kifl Haris, calling the acts blatant violations of international law and an affront to Muslims worldwide.
