Qatari Diplomat Warns Gaza Situation is “No War, No Peace”

A senior Qatari diplomat has issued a stark warning that the situation in Gaza risks sliding into a deadly limbo of “no war, no peace,” calling for urgent measures to stabilize the territory and enable a complete Israeli withdrawal.
According to The Guardian, Dr. Majed Al-Ansari, spokesperson for the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, emphasized that a long-term resolution requires the rapid setup of an international security force and a new Palestinian administration. He stated that getting this force in place would “significantly shift the whole process from war to the day after,” ensuring a more lasting peace.
Al-Ansari confirmed that the existing ceasefire deal, which underpins the loose framework for Gaza’s future, calls for an international force to secure the territory and prevent violence, but sidestepped basic details regarding the force’s mandate and membership. He stated that Qatar and regional allies desire the force to be backed by the UN Security Council. The diplomat’s remarks underscore that the lack of a clear post-conflict structure threatens to undermine diplomatic efforts.
On Tuesday, Israeli airstrikes killed more than 100 Palestinians, at least 66 of them women and children, in the deadliest day since Donald Trump declared the war was over. Israel said the bombings were in response to an attack in Rafah city that killed a soldier carrying out demolitions there.
