Mauritania Launches Nationwide Campaign to Distribute 50,000 Qurans
………….
The Mauritanian Quran Association has launched a nationwide campaign to distribute 50,000 copies of the Holy Quran, printed in the Warsh narration, to religious schools (mahadhirs), mosques, and educational institutions across the country. The initiative aims to promote Quranic education and ensure access to reliable, high-quality copies of the Quran in Mauritania.
A ceremony marking the campaign’s launch was held at the association’s headquarters in Nouakchott, attended by scholars, Quran reciters, and religious leaders. Speakers praised the association’s growing role in supporting Quran memorization and teaching efforts.
Dr. Mohamed Al-Amin Ould Sheikhna, Director of Islamic Guidance at the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, commended the initiative, emphasizing the continued need for Qurans in Mauritania. He noted that the country’s newly established House of the Quran is responsible for reviewing and approving copies before their official distribution.
Dr. Sidi Abdel Qader Tfeil, head of the House of the Quran, highlighted the importance of collaboration in serving students and preserving the role of traditional Quranic schools. Sheikh Dr. Sheikhna Sidi Al-Hajj, president of the Quran Association, said this is the second major campaign after a similar effort in 2023, reaffirming the association’s commitment to supporting educational institutions and promoting Quranic learning nationwide.
