A ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip officially came into effect at noon Thursday, according to media reports. The announcement follows the signing of the first phase of a peace plan mediated between Israel and Hamas.

Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed via Truth Social that the deal aims to secure the release of all detainees in the coming days. The initial phase includes halting military operations and exchanging detainees and Palestinian prisoners by Monday.

Qatar’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson said the Sharm El-Sheikh negotiations led to consensus on the terms of this phase. Meanwhile, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement emphasized that the agreement was achieved through the steadfastness and sacrifices of the Palestinian people, not as a concession.
