Global Calls Mount for Gaza Medical Access as Trump Prepares Peace Proposal and UN Warns of Civilian Suffering

International concern over the war in Gaza is intensifying, with Western governments urging urgent medical access, the United Nations warning of devastating civilian impacts, and U.S. President Donald Trump preparing to unveil a peace plan for the conflict.

According to Anadolu Agency, Canada and more than 20 European countries have called on Israel to immediately restore the medical corridor that once allowed patients from Gaza to receive treatment in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem. The joint appeal stressed that thousands of Palestinians remain in need of lifesaving care, and urged Israel to permit the free movement of patients, doctors, and medical supplies without restriction.

Diplomatic maneuvering is also underway from Washington. At the United Nations, meanwhile, speakers used high-level meetings to draw attention to the immense toll on Gaza’s civilian population. According to Arab News, Jordan’s Queen Rania told the General Assembly that the war had cut women’s life expectancy in Gaza by an estimated 30 years. She described harrowing conditions, including cesarean operations without anesthesia, widespread child malnutrition, and families displaced into unsafe shelters. Other delegates echoed her warning, urging stronger international action to uphold humanitarian law.

The UN’s own findings have further sharpened debate. A commission of inquiry, according to the UN News Service, concluded that multiple states, including Israel, are failing to meet their legal obligations to prevent genocide and protect civilians. The report highlighted violations of medical neutrality and warned that continued impunity would deepen the humanitarian crisis.

Together, the developments underline a growing global consensus that the humanitarian situation in Gaza has reached a critical point.
