The UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities reports that more than 21,000 children in the Gaza Strip have acquired permanent disabilities due to the ongoing conflict. The committee’s report highlights a humanitarian crisis, with approximately 4,500 children injured by military operations.

According to the report, restrictions on humanitarian aid have worsened conditions for people with disabilities and their families, limiting their access to essential medical care. The committee also noted that many with hearing and visual impairments often do not receive evacuation warnings, making safe relocation nearly impossible and increasing their risk in conflict zones.

The UN body emphasized an urgent need for the international community to protect civilians, ensure unimpeded aid delivery, and provide specialized support for disabled children facing the long-term impacts of war.
