Global Mosques Called to Unite in Defense of Al-Aqsa on World Mosque Day

Global Mosques Called to Unite in Defense of Al-Aqsa on World Mosque Day
—————————————
Mosques worldwide have been urged to strengthen their ties and coordinate efforts to protect Al-Aqsa Mosque amid ongoing Israeli encroachments, IQNA reported.

The call highlights that the lack of continuous collaboration among mosques in the Muslim world has weakened their collective response to critical issues like the situation at Al-Aqsa.

World Mosque Day was established to commemorate the 1969 arson attack on Al-Aqsa Mosque, when a settler set fire to the site, damaging nearly 1,500 square meters of the compound. In 2003, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation officially designated August 21 as World Mosque Day to raise awareness about threats to Islamic holy sites.

Located in occupied East al-Quds, Al-Aqsa is among the holiest Islamic sites and has been a focal point of conflict since Israel’s 1967 occupation.

The Call has emphasized the role of modern technology, urging the use of digital platforms and social media to raise awareness and mobilize Muslim communities worldwide against the Zionist regime and global oppression.
