Twenty people were killed and dozens injured when an aid truck overturned near the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, The Guardian reported. Gaza’s civil defence spokesperson, Mahmud Bassal, said the incident occurred around midnight as hundreds of civilians waited for supplies.

Hamas accused Israel of forcing drivers to take unsafe routes to distribution points, leading to chaotic scenes where desperate crowds swarm aid vehicles. The group’s media office said such conditions contribute to deadly accidents.

The tragedy comes amid growing dangers for aid delivery in Gaza. Local truck drivers report that worsening hunger and a breakdown of order have made their work increasingly hazardous.
