Report: Over 18,000 Palestinians Arrested Since Start of Gaza War
…………….
Israeli authorities have detained approximately 18,500 Palestinians across the occupied West Bank, East Jerusalem, and Gaza since the onset of the Gaza war in October 2023, according to a report released Sunday by the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club and the Prisoners and Liberators Affairs Authority.
The report notes that the detainees include 570 women, 1,500 children, and 194 journalists—49 of whom remain in custody. At least 75 Palestinian prisoners have died in Israeli detention since October 7, including 46 from Gaza. Israeli authorities are reportedly withholding the bodies of 72 prisoners out of 83 total deaths recorded before and after that date.
The figures exclude those captured during military operations inside Gaza, as no official data has been released. Rights groups accuse Israeli forces of pursuing a “policy of enforced disappearance” regarding Gaza detainees and warn of continued violations amid the ongoing conflict and military campaign.
