Israeli Doctors Condemn Gaza Hospital Attacks as BBC Faces Criticism Over Coverage
………………..
Dr. Marwan al-Sultan, director of the Indonesian hospital in northern Gaza, was killed along with his family on July 2 in an Israeli airstrike, according to reports. Al-Sultan is among more than 1,400 medical workers killed during the ongoing war, including 70 in the last two months.
The Indonesian hospital had been under siege for weeks before it was bombed repeatedly and forced to shut down in May, leaving the UN to declare northern Gaza without any functioning hospitals.
In response, 600 Israeli medical professionals have signed a letter condemning what they call the systematic destruction of Gaza’s healthcare system and expressing solidarity with their counterparts there. The signatories stressed they do not support the Israeli government’s actions and urged the global community to stand for peace and protection of human life.
Meanwhile, the BBC is under fire from journalists and viewers for shelving a documentary on Gaza’s medical crisis. Critics say the broadcaster’s editorial decisions reflect fear of political backlash, resulting in biased reporting that fails to convey the full extent of the war’s impact. Some have called for accountability within the BBC and for more honest coverage reflecting public opinion on the conflict.
