Allahabad High Court Rejects Plea to Declare Mathura’s Shahi Idgah Mosque Disputed
——————–
The Allahabad High Court on Friday dismissed a petition seeking to declare the Shahi Idgah mosque in Mathura as a disputed structure in the ongoing Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi case, Muslim Mirror reported. The petition was filed by Mahendra Pratap Singh, President of the Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi Mukti Nyas.

Singh argued that the mosque stands on the site of a former Hindu temple, citing Hindu symbols on the mosque walls and lack of documentary proof that it is a mosque. He also pointed out the absence of the mosque in official land and municipal records, and no taxes paid on the property.

The Muslim side countered that the Shahi Idgah mosque has existed for over 400 years and rejected the claim that it should be declared disputed.

Justice Ram Manohar Narayan Mishra ruled in favor of the Muslim side, refusing to classify the mosque as disputed property, unlike the Babri Masjid case. This petition was one of 18 filed regarding land claims around the Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi complex.
