Islamic organizations slam Israel MK’s order to ban Muslim call to prayer from mosques

Islamic organizations have condemned a recent directive by Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir to ban the Muslim call to prayer in mosques across Israel, labeling it a dangerous escalation and provocation, Middle East Monitor reported.

In a statement released yesterday, these organizations warned that the measure is part of a series of escalating violations against Palestinians and their religious rights.

They criticized the policy as part of a “brutal religious war” targeting worship, rituals, and holy sites, violating international laws protecting religious freedoms. The statement warned that increasing attacks on Palestinians and their holy sites, backed by the Israeli government, could spark widespread anger and unrest.

Ben-Gvir recently summoned Israeli police chiefs to a meeting, demanding strict action against what he described as “noise” from the Muslim call to prayer in Arab towns and coastal cities. He criticized police for failing to address complaints about mosque loudness and instructed them to enforce his policy, according to Haaretz.
