Israeli Airstrike Kills Gaza Journalist, Raising Media Death Toll to 220

Hassan Majdi Abu Warda, director of Barq Gaza news agency, was killed in an Israeli strike on his home in Jabalia, northern Gaza, on Sunday, Anadolu Agency reported. Local authorities confirmed the attack also fatally wounded several family members.
The Gaza media office accused Israel of “systematic assassination” of journalists, urging global human rights and press groups to intervene. Since October 2023, 220 Palestinian reporters have died in the conflict.
Israel’s military offensive has claimed over 53,900 Palestinian lives, predominantly women and children, despite international ceasefire demands. The ICC issued arrest warrants for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and ex-Defense Minister Yoav Gallant in November 2024 for alleged war crimes.
A separate genocide case against Israel is pending at the ICJ.
