Israeli Forces Demolish Homes in Nour Shams Refugee Camp at Ramadan Outset

On Saturday, just one day before the first day of Holy Ramadan, Israeli military bulldozers entered the Nour Shams refugee camp, demolishing homes and damaging roads in the al-Manshiya neighborhood. Nihad Al-Shawish, head of the camp’s Popular Committee, reported that several bulldozers stormed the area, forcing residents to evacuate under claims of impending “large-scale detonations.”
This military operation marks the 21st day of intensified assaults on Nour Shams, with ongoing attacks across northern West Bank cities, particularly Jenin and Tulkarem. Since the escalation began, at least 64 people have been killed and thousands displaced.
Palestinian authorities assert that the Israeli military actions are part of a broader strategy by Prime Minister Netanyahu’s government to annex the West Bank, jeopardizing the two-state solution. The International Court of Justice has previously deemed Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territories “unlawful,” urging the evacuation of settlements in the region.
