Amnesty International Accuses Israel of Genocide Against Palestinians

Amnesty International released a comprehensive report on Thursday, December 5, accusing Israel of committing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza since the onset of the war in October 2023, Arab News reported yesterday.

The 300-page document, described as a “wake-up call,” is based on satellite imagery, field research, and testimonies from Gazans. It claims that Israel has systematically treated Palestinians as a “subhuman group unworthy of human rights.”

The report highlights over 44,580 deaths in Gaza, predominantly civilians, due to Israeli military actions. It details “direct deliberate attacks” on civilian infrastructure and the obstruction of humanitarian aid, leading to widespread malnutrition and disease among the population. Amnesty cites specific incidents, including airstrikes that killed civilians without any apparent military targets.

Israeli officials have categorically rejected the allegations, dismissing the report as “fabricated” and “based on lies.” They argue that their military operations comply with international law and are aimed at neutralizing Hamas, which has been accused of using civilians as human shields.

The report has garnered mixed reactions, with Palestinian groups welcoming it as a call for international intervention. Independent UN experts have previously raised similar concerns, and the situation continues to draw attention from global human rights organizations.
