Fuel Shortage in Southern Gaza Leaves 1.2 Million Without Water

Khan Younis, a city in southern Gaza, is facing a severe fuel shortage that has left over 1.2 million residents and displaced individuals without access to clean water, Anadolu Agency reported yesterday.

The city government reported that this week-long shortage has disrupted essential services, including water wells and desalination plants.

Authorities warned that the lack of fuel has also halted sewage treatment facilities, raising concerns about untreated wastewater potentially flooding streets and increasing the risk of environmental and health crises.

The city government has called for immediate international intervention to end the ongoing Israeli military actions in Gaza, which have devastated public services. The Israeli offensive, now exceeding 13 months, has resulted in over 43,700 deaths and has left the region nearly uninhabitable, with critical shortages of food, water, and medical supplies. The situation has prompted calls for the resumption of fuel supplies and essential equipment to prevent a complete collapse of public services.
