Israel war on Gaza generates over 25 million tons of debris: UN
The UN highlighted Thursday the need for reconstruction in Gaza after the conflict and warned that it would take years to clear “the nearly 23 million metric tons (25 million tons) of debris generated by the destruction,” Anadolu Agency reported.
It also stressed clearing up unexploded ordnance contamination, noting that mine action partners are carrying out some assessments of explosive threats and educating the public about the risks.
About 85% of Gazans have been displaced by the Israeli onslaught amid acute shortages of food, clean water and medicine, while 60% of the enclave’s infrastructure has been damaged or destroyed, according to the UN.
