Fuel Tanker Explosion in Nigeria’s Niger State Kills 35
…………..
At least 35 people were killed when a fuel tanker overturned and exploded in Nigeria’s northern Niger state on Tuesday, Reuters reported. The Federal Road Safety Corps said the accident occurred along the Bida-Agaie road after the vehicle skidded off and spilled petrol, which ignited shortly afterward. According to local officials, the victims were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Deadly tanker explosions are frequent in Nigeria, where most petroleum products are moved by road due to a lack of functional pipelines. Poorly maintained highways and pothole-ridden routes have contributed to repeated accidents, often resulting in significant loss of life. Authorities have urged drivers transporting fuel to exercise extreme caution to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
