Bus Crash in Nigeria Claims Lives of 25 Children on Religious Pilgrimage

According to Arab News, a tragic bus crash in northern Nigeria’s Kaduna state has claimed the lives of at least 25 children celebrating the birth of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him and his pure family.

The accident occurred on Sunday when a speeding bus, overloaded with 63 young members of the Tijjaniyya Sufi order, lost control and collided with a truck in Lere district.

Local road safety official Kabiru Nadabo reported that 15 children died at the scene, while 10 succumbed to injuries later. Organizers of the pilgrimage cited a higher toll, claiming 40 fatalities and 31 injuries.

The children, from Kwandare village, were en route to Saminaka for annual Maulud festivities. Road accidents are prevalent in Nigeria due to poorly maintained roads and reckless driving.
