Ramadan Tent in Moscow Strengthens Muslim Friendship

The Ramadan Tent in Moscow is a significant event where communal iftar meals are held daily, uniting over 600 people of various nationalities and beliefs, Iqna reported. Russia, home to approximately 25 million Muslims, has the largest Muslim population in Europe, despite Islam being a minority religion.
During Ramadan, fasting hours can extend up to 22 hours, yet daily life remains unchanged for Muslims in Russia. A key tradition includes inviting skilled Quran reciters to lead lessons and discussions about Ramadan.

Located near the Baklonaya Gara Mosque and organized by the Moscow Council of Muftis, the Ramadan Tent features dishes from Muslim regions of Russia and hosts Quran memorization competitions for children. Each day of Ramadan is dedicated to a different Islamic country, with ceremonies featuring speeches from ambassadors and clerics.
Nafiullah Ashirov, head of the Muslims’ Department for Asian Russia, highlights the tent’s role in fostering friendship among Muslims globally and suggests that this model of Islamic brotherhood could benefit other countries with Muslim communities.
